Our client’s aim
Northumbria University worked with Flint Spark Consulting because they needed help to ignite their people by getting their priorities in order (because when people share the big picture they are motivated to make a difference).
Objective of our commission
Flint Spark Consulting was commissioned to support a team of 60 staff and managers based in the North East and also in Singapore and London. The International Office at Northumbria University had been through significant changes over recent years. The management team wanted to bring everyone together to deal with the issues the team felt were the biggest priority and to shape the team’s vision and strategy moving forward.
Our chosen approach
Flint designed and facilitated an “Open Space Technology” event where the responsibility for creating, facilitating and recording the agenda and proceedings for the day was handed over to the delegates. This approach was used given the complexity and range of issues and concerns the team had and to also drive maximum engagement and ownership of the solutions. The work of the group was recorded on large wall displays that were photographed and compiled into a report that was distributed to everyone after the event. Open Space Technology requires highly skilled and experienced facilitation, which is one of Flint Spark’s core capabilities
Praise for a job well done
Really good to see you again on Friday and I think everyone got a lot out of the day – really appreciate all your help and support in putting together such a great event.
We will devise a plan to implement the quick wins so that people can feel the change and we capitalise on the energy generated on the day.
